So you are off on a Venice Carnival Trip and you are particularly excited about your Venice Masked Ball, but are not sure what you should take with you.
Obviously you will need to pack the usual essentials for a trip abroad, and bear in mind to take a warm jacket as it can still be quite cool as Venice Carnival is in February. However most people are unsure about what to take for the Venice Masked Ball itself which you will be attending in historical costume.
You will attend an atelier fitting where you try on your costume for the Venice Carnival masked Ball and suddenly it will all become very real and exciting and you will feel special!
When you visit the atelier for your appointment for costume fitting we suggest that you take a bag with you so that you can pack away your normal clothes and walk away in your costumes and start to enjoy being recognised as royalty!
The ateliers workshop or studio can become very busy and there are only so many changing rooms hence the appointment so please make sure that you are on time. They are keen to be able to spend the time making sure all of the historical details are in line with the Venice Carnival ball that you are attending.
We suggest that you take a comfortable pair of shoes to wear with your historical Venice Carnival costume as the historically styled ones are not very comfortable and can easily spoil your evening. If you wish you can transform them quite easily with stick on artificial flowers or bows, whilst men can purchase buckles to add to their shoes to make them look authentic (the buckles are sold at the ateliers).
Similarly you can purchase your wigs, mask, earrings and jewellery whilst in Venice but they are very expensive and you cannot rent these items for reasons of hygiene. It is much better to bring with you some classic jewellery (or silver) that will match anything that you wear at the Venice masked Ball.
Equally it will be much cheaper to pre buy any wigs or masks at home, though of course the choice will not be as
varied and it can be hard to choose without the Venice Carnival outfit on.
If you pre-buy it will probably not be an authentic Venetian mask but if you look at our website pictures they will give you a really good idea of what you can get. We suggest you purchase something that will not get easily broken, (lace masks are a good buy), or at least something that you can easily pack for your Venice Carnival Holiday.
You are able to hire capes to keep you warm and the gentlemen will probably like to hire a hat as well. Ladies we recommend you either chose a Venice Carnival costume complete with a small bag or bring one with you. These are ideal to hide your phones in so that you can take photos and be able to treasure forever your Venice Carnival Trip. You can hire these bags to match your costume if there is not one supplied but it is all extra cost of course!
They will ensure that you feel and look like the original nobility attending a Venice masked Ball, and are ready to enjoy the whole experience.
The ateliers used by Italian Short Breaks for all of our Venice Carnival holidays are authentic Venetian designers, with great patience, who create stunning costumes for all of the Venetian balls.
We are confident that they will all ensure you look fantastic for your Venetian masked Ball and it is a very special experience that you will remember for a long time.
