Seating Plan & Practical Advice at Arena di Verona

Verona Arena Seating Plan

Verona Arena Seating Plan

The Verona Opera Festival takes place each summer from Mid-June until early September. This is an open-air venue where the seating ranges from Platinum Stall seating (the best) right up to the Numbered Seats high on the stone steps.

While the stone seating is certainly more authentic, it is a good climb up to your seat and with long opera performances, it can take its toll on the body. If you want to be seated on the ground then you have to look at the first few levels of ticketing for your Verona opera experience. These range from the best tickets which are the Platinum Stall (silver on the above schematic), the Gold Central Stall, which are the second category (yellow) and the Central Stall (blue), the third category seating. All other levels are on the top steps above the ground.

The Verona Opera Platinum seats are the first 11 rows and indeed Row 11 has a walkway in front for extra space. These are plastic seating with a cushion. Immediately behind these are the Gold Central Stall tickets, which offer the same plastic seating and cushion. Behind the Gold Central Stall are the Central Stall which are plastic seating but without a cushion. Additional cushions can usually be purchased or hired as required with fees raised going to charity.

The ground seating slopes down towards the orchestra pit and stage, so there are no restrictions to the view, which has to be a few rows back to fully appreciate the incredible sets in front of you.

Whichever seating you select, we can guarantee you will always be seated together with your travelling companions.

There are different gates that accept admittance along with a designated gate for those with reduced mobility.

The June and July operas all begin at 9pm whilst August and September begin slightly earlier at 8.45pm.

You are expected to be seated at least 30 minutes prior to the performance taking place. Your tickets will be waiting for you in an envelope at Hotel Reception for your collection upon arrival.

The libretto, music and other souvenirs can be purchased either during the day or the night of the opera at the Arena shop located just outside the gate.

Please note you are not permitted to take photographs or video once the performance has begun.

Whilst it is a very special event to attend the Arena di Verona, we recommend wearing smart/casual attire only. The temperatures can still be in the late 20c late into the evening so thin layers are advisable, as suits and ties will be too warm. Please note denim and anything that could be deemed as more risqué, is prohibited in both the Gold and Platinum seating categories.

We recommend you also pack a summer mac with you as this is an outdoor venue. Whilst to date we have only had one very bad summer in Verona, we have had the occasional opera that has been cancelled due to the rain. In the first instance the Verona opera arena will do everything they can to make sure the performance takes place, however, they may have to delay starting if the rain is too heavy. If they get started and then the rain arrives, they may resort to taking an additional break in the hope that the rain will stop and the performance can continue. This would mean the opera takes place but finishes later than planned. This is another one of the benefit of having a hotel only around 5-10 mins walking distance away.

In terms of your Verona Opera tickets, if the performance is unable to start or finish Act 1, then you have the choice of either switching to an opera on the following day or receiving a refund on your tickets. Please note this is subject to there being another performance taking place, your schedule and ticket availability.

If however, the performance completes the first act and gets rained off during Act 2, there is no refund

from the arena; however, we are happy to provide a full refund to our clients who have not been able to finish their opera evening.  Please note if you opt for the refund, whilst we are still offering the free upgrade to Platinum level, the refund would be for the pricing of the Gold Central Stall.

All of our Verona opera breaks currently include a Free Complimentary Upgrade to the Platinum Stall seating, which are the best seats in the arena.
