From the moment I came across the a la Carte website to touching down in Dublin after 5 days away I cannot praise the company enough, we intended to book the Orient Express and our stay in Verona on a separate basis but decided to take the hardship out of it and just go with the a La Carte company. And are we delighted we did this.
Everything they said they would do they did it, in spades. I have never returned from a holiday where I can say that absolutely nothing went wrong or that I would change. Their choice of hotels and locations was top class and all the touches that were included were very well received. It was my wife's 60th and she never had a trip to compare with it. And finally I can't complement the staff in their head office enough especially Hannah Netting for her always courteous and helpful manner. John
The Orient Express exceeded my expectations, starting with the welcoming glass of Champagne from our super-efficient and obliging cabin steward, to superb meals in the magnificent dining cars, to the personal touches in our cabins, to the friendliness of the other passengers, to the "goodies" in the shop on board and to the beautiful scenery en route, particularly in Switzerland. Jenny
It was a perfect, hassle, stress free experience. From checking in at Victoria Station for the Orient Express to being picked up by water taxi for our return flight home, everything went like clockwork - you definitely delivered a unique experience. Frances

The Venice Simplon Orient Express is the Number 1 rail journey in the world, and with good reason. This train has been transporting people across Europe for a hundred years and shows no signs of slowing down. Board the train at London Victoria where the British Pullman transfers you through the beauty of the English countryside to Folkestone. Here the luxury coaches will take you through the tunnel into France, where the Venice Simplon Orient Express will be waiting for you. From the moment you board in London Victoria, your suitcases will be transferred onto your hotel destination, so all you need is an overnight bag to take with you in your cabin.
For many a Venice Orient Express trip is the ultimate special occasion journey, and is a popular one for people celebrating significant milestones of anniversaries and birthdays.
Your steward will help you settle in and furnish you with details in regards to the three dining cars on board the Venice Orient Express luxury train. The first is the Cote d’Azure with blue opaque glass classical figures. The second is the Etoile du Nord with fantastic marquetry, and the last is L’Oriental which is stylised in black lacquer panels.
The food is exquisite and starts with delicious afternoon tea which is served in your cabin so you can enjoy adjusting to the relaxed pace of living on the Venice Orient Express train. It really is a very special atmosphere on board and many people leave their cabin door open so they can chat to fellow passengers as they pass by, as well as keep an eye on the scenery both sides of the train.
You can then remain in your cabin or explore the train, and perhaps take an aperitif before dinner and sample one of the Venice Orient Express signature cocktails in the 3674 bar carriage. There is a baby grand and the pianist plays all the classics such as New York New York and the atmosphere is almost like a jazz club! No outfit is too overdressed for the original roaring twenties Venice Orient Express train so flapper dresses, feather boas, full length sparkly numbers and black tie are entirely suitable, and you may even be tempted to take to the small dance floor with your partner before the evening ends.
Scrumptious dinners are prepared fresh in the tiny narrow kitchen and served to an exceptional gourmet level, with a large choice of excellent wines.
Whilst you are enjoying your evening, the steward will prepare your sleeping quarters by turning the sofas into beds.
You have the option of three types of cabin:
The first is the Twin Cabin which comes with a lounge, banquette sofa and a washbasin. By night it is transformed by the steward into a bedroom with an upper and lower bed.
The second is the Cabin Suite which consists of two interconnecting cabins. One room can be kept as a lounge with the second having an upper and lower berth, or make way for two single beds; one in each room.
The third is the Grand Suite which features a double/twin bedroom, living area with space for private dining and a sofa which can be converted into an additional bed in the evening. A private en-suite bathroom includes shower, washbasin and toilet. Enjoy the celebrated 24-hour cabin service complemented by free-flowing champagne in your suite.
Be awoken by your steward bringing delicate pastries and hot drinks for your cabin breakfast. Enjoy a gourmet lunch with your fellow passengers before arriving into Italy mid afternoon. On arrival you will be whisked by water taxi via the Grand Canal to your hotel.

It is easy to get lost in Venice, but it is equally easy to re-orientate yourself again by just heading to the Grand Canal to see how far along you are.
